Advanced Seminar "Low-noise flight planning of drones in low-altitude airspace" AS-3
*Japanese Session【Speaker】・Xin Zhang Hong Kong University of Technology Swire Professor of Aerospace Engineering【Summary】As the low-altitude economy continues to thrive, drones are increasingly integrated into urban environments, prompting a growing concern about their noise pollution issue. This talk presents an innovative approach to low-noise flight planning for drones in low-altitude economic scenarios, integrating high-precision noise assessment methods with advanced path planning techniques. In our prior work, we have developed a virtual flight simulation and noise assessment platform. This platform features modules for rotor noise calculation, fuselage noise modeling, and far-field noise propagation computation, enabling accurate and efficient noise evaluation even in complex urban settings during drone operations. By integrating noise data with intelligent path planning algorithms, we optimize drone flight routes and operating strategies to mitigate noise impact, achieving effective reduction on both the continuous noise level and maximum instantaneous noise level. Our prior studies have successfully applied this approach to a diverse range of scenarios, such as point-to-point drone missions, urban last-mile delivery routing design, and cargo transfer station optimization for truck-drone cooperation, highlighting its strong noise reduction potential. This low-noise flight planning method provides a practical technical solution, thus facilitating the sustainable development of the low-altitude economy.Click here to apply
